What you need to know before adopting:

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ADOPTERS:  It is PGPR's policy to spay all female guinea pigs who are adopted out, not just for the purpose of preventing pregnancy, but in the interest of their long term health. You can read about spaying and what it prevents in our Resources/Blog section.  Our adoption fee for females is $175 each which represents half of the actual cost for the procedure.
Adoption fees:
Spayed female: $175
Pair of spayed females: $350
Intact male: $35
Spayed female/Intact male pair: $195
Pair of unaltered males: $65
Senior or special needs:  Adoption fee will depend on age and needs

1. You will need to adopt a pair unless you are looking for a friend for your current one.

2. Cage size must be at least 10 square feet for 2 guinea pigs.

3. Along with our application we will send you more details on our adoption timeline for the week and a sheet for things you will need to buy to be ready for your newest additions to the family. Do not go buy anything before contacting us or you will likely be returning most of it because pet stores will sell you things you either don't need or are dangerous for a guinea pig.

4. You must be ready to love, care for, and cherish the guinea pigs that you adopt from us.

5. You must be at least 18 years of age to submit an application. If you are under 18 you will be asked to have your parent or guardian fill out the application again.
